On Yer Bike on Mount Teide
Chris asks, "Is it feasible to hire a bike and take in Mount Teide under your own steam of is it more sensible to use one of the organised trips that take you up and give you a bike to descend on? If it's the latter, can you suggest a website/s of such trip organisers?"
Seeing that I'd personally have trouble riding a stationary bike in the living room, I think it best to hand you over to someone who has first hand experience of cycling up Teide, as you'll see in this video.

But equally, if you buy a decent map, it is quite possible to put together some tours for yourself and use the public bus service to get you around.
