Zapatero Visits Tenerife Today

President of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, is today visiting Tenerife and Fuerteventura. During the 10 hour visit he will meet with President of the Canary Islands Government, Adán Martín, and is to visit immigrant retention centers on the two islands.

One of his stops, programmed for 1.30 p.m. today, will take the president to the port of Los Cristianos in Arona, which has become the major point of arrival of boats carrying immigrants to our shores, to see for himself the work done by police, Red Cross volunteers, etc., in attending these arrivals when they disembark.
