Endesa switches on power plant in Tenerife
The president of the Canary Islands' regional government, together with senior management from Endesa, has inaugurated the first combined cycle gas turbine facility on the island of Tenerife. Endesa recently completed construction of the CCGT facility, which has 226MW of installed capacity and is located within the Granadilla fossil-fuel plant in the south of the island. This brings installed capacity on the island to 899MW. This facility, along with the one inaugurated by Endesa last year on Gran Canaria in the town of San Bartolome de Tirajana, paves the way for the use of natural gas on the islands in the future.
