Canary Islands Energy Production Up 6.5%
According to provisional data for the first six months of 2005, Spanish energy company, ENDESA (represented in the Canary Islands by UNELCO), showed an increase in production in the Balearic and Canary Islands and Ceuta-Melilla of 6.5%. Production decreased 3.7% in the Spanish peninsular and 2% in Spain overall. Energy produced via renewables/CHP rose 4.3% (to 1.008 GWh) and via wind power by 20%.
